March, Cooking Helpers, and PE days for the rest of the year.

We have had fun doing many different weather activities this week. Next week we will learn about Space and do some fun things having to do with March. I am changing Dinosaurs to later in March because I need it to be a little warmer for something fun we will be doing outside pertaining to dinosaurs. We will be talking about the letter Vv and practicing up to the number 22. I am going to send home flash cards with numbers on them to practice at home because many of us are still having trouble identifying the numbers 0-22.

We will begin testing for report cards next week. Another thing some of us are having trouble on is identifying coins and their values.

Cooking moms pick their own activity and come from 9:15-10:15 on Fridays. If your day does not work you can always swap with another mom. If there is someone I missed, please let me know so I can add you on to the list.

Taylor's mom 3/5
Davis' mom 3/12
Asa's mom 3/19
Matthew's mom 3/26
Will's mom 4/16

The PE teachers have asked for all of the kids to wear tennis shoes on PE days. Our PE days are: 3/8, 3/16, 3/29, 4/13, 4/26, 5/4, 5/17

Abe, George and the Olympics!

We have been learning about the Olympics this week and keeping close tabs on the medal count! We made a class book about what sports we would like to participate in if we were in the Olympics as well as two emergent readers for them to practice reading at home. One of them uses color words. Keep up the great work on sight word practice. These are some of the words that the K5 teachers will send home for them to learn over the summer. The sight words are on the blog if you scroll down.

We also have been learning about Abe and George. We practiced with coins. We worked on recognizing them and counting them. It is great practice to have them count coins at home! Some of our kids still need to work on identifying and writing their numbers. They should be able to identify and write 0-20! Please help them practice these so they can stay on top of things.

Next week we will begin our Weather unit! We will work on the letter Uu and the number21. Our special snack helper next week is Grayson!

The BOOK FAIR is next week! We will go preview the books on
Monday. We are shopping on Wednesday at 9:30 and you are welcome to come. If it more convenient for you to come grab them at carpool time, you can do that too. Whenever you can come is fine. You don't have to come, but if you want to that would be great!

What An Eventful Week!!

We had fun learning about taking care of our teeth this week and finishing up our Healthy Body unit. We talked about how to care for our teeth and even had a visit from a real dental helper and her special friend THE TOOTH FAIRY!! Pajama day was a huge success. The boys all shaved and the girl painted their nails. We enjoyed meeting all of the special bears, snakes, bulldogs and other animals and seeing special blankets and quilts!! Thanks for participating in the poll we conducted! I will try to put on a different poll on our blog each week that has something to do with what we are learning! Next week we will be busy busy getting ready for Valentine's Day. Our party will be Thursday 2/11 and will last until 1:00. Kids who go home at noon will need to stay until 1:00 that day. You can park and pick up your child in our classroom at 1:00. Our Valentine committee has planned some fun and meaningful activities for the party. We will make our valentine holders here at school. Your child can bring in his/her Valentine cards by Thursday. We will be practicing with the letter Ss and number 19.

Remember NO SCHOOL FRIDAY 2/5, 2/12 OR 2/15.

Lunch Bunch and Camp Out friends

Today we will start keeping our lunch and camp out friends and not swapping w/ other teachers. They will see their other friends on the playground in the afternoon. We have 9 friends who stay almost everyday. Our total number in K-4 is over 20 and our room is not big enough for resting. When all the K-4 stay that can, we have 25 children. We all have other children that will turn 5 soon as well. Our numbers will continue to increase. We are excited about this because we will be able to do some fun things that we may not have been able to do w/ over 20 kids.
